Q: can we sue the hospital for negligence causing a patient to a serious complication

My brother went for a endoscopy test, after the procedure they are not releasing my brother from the operating room. When they released him, he has a high fever and double vision. we thought that maybe it is because of his fasting or he is tired. the night of the operation his fever went really high so rushed him to another hospital. Thankfully, we went there early because if not, the infection will go up to his brain and will cause meningitis. He was admitted for 6days in the hospital. Can we sue the doctor or the hospital for this?

A: I'm sorry this happened to your brother. It is difficult for an attorney to answer your question meaningfully - the things you describe could require the qualified opinion of a medical professional. One option would be to reach out to law firms in your state to try to set up a free initial consult. If a law firm did identify the basis for a possible case, and they felt the matter warranted a closer look, they could retrieve the file and review with a doctor for their opinion. If nothing else, a consult could help your brother learn the timetables within which he would need to act to preserve his rights in any possible claim(s). I hope your brother has a healthy recovery. Good luck
