A: In Nevada, landlords are generally allowed to charge late fees for rent payments, but the fees must be reasonable and in accordance with state law. The law does not specify a strict maximum amount for late fees, but the fees must not be excessive or punitive.

A late fee of $3 per day could be considered reasonable, especially if it's clearly outlined in the rental agreement you signed. However, if this daily fee accumulates significantly over time, it could be challenged as unreasonable, especially if it results in a very high total late fee compared to the monthly rent amount.

It's also important to note that if rent has not been paid for many months, the accumulation of late fees could become substantial, and you might want to explore whether the total amount is reasonable under Nevada law.

If you're concerned about the late fees being charged or if you believe they may be excessive, it may be worthwhile to review your rental agreement and consult with a legal professional who can provide advice based on your specific situation.
