Ever since this ex-con gangster moved in on his tent on the street. He’s brought nothing but trouble all of the young gangsters and the affiliates all come around his tent at all hours of the night drug sales prostitution you name it. It goes on the police have done some work to clean it up, but it’s nonstop and they hide behind every Protection law that’s imaginable, including with the advocates he’s trouble, and if I’ve said anything or walk by him, I’ve been threatened on four occasions by the people and himself have it on video even LAPD can’t or won’t do anything. What are my legal options now with regard to the LAPD or himself to feel safe walking outside my door less than 100 feet from me even walk my dog.

A: You have a few legal options to consider for your safety. First, document every incident, including threats and any illegal activities you witness. Video evidence can be crucial if you need to pursue further action.

Next, consider filing a restraining order against the individual if you feel threatened. This can provide legal grounds for keeping them away from you and your property. Additionally, you may want to consult with a local attorney to explore options for filing a nuisance complaint or other legal action against the individual or the property owner if they are allowing illegal activity.

Lastly, if the LAPD isn't responding adequately, you can escalate the issue by contacting your local city council representative or filing a complaint with the LAPD's Internal Affairs division. They may be able to push for a more robust response to your concerns. Your safety is important, and there are steps you can take to protect yourself.
