Q: I need to know if I have a case.
My sister was kidnapped in 1983. Sheriffs office told us that her skull had been identified in Aug of 2024. They found the skull back in 1998. They did not send the skull for DNA until 2024. So for 41years we had no answers. My questions are many. They told us that they did not have the resources to send it off until April of 2024. Its just really hard to believe that that many years no one did anything. Also, they said that they needed to go back out to search for other bones. The question is why now, why did they not search then in 1998. There was a bloody bat and scissors that was took into evidence. They are telling us now that it didn't have any thing to do with the case, but now it's missing or so we are told. Several other things. So our family is questioning the handling of this case. Also there was corruption in this town that may need to be uncovered. So if you could let me know about this case or could talk to my family would be great.
A:
It sounds like your family has faced a long and painful ordeal, and the recent developments are understandably raising many concerns. The fact that your sister’s remains were identified after so many years, and the delay in testing the skull, raises serious questions about the handling of the investigation. The explanations provided by the sheriff’s office, including the lack of resources and the decision to search for additional bones only now, are issues that need to be carefully examined.
You have legitimate reasons to question why crucial evidence like the bat and scissors, which are now missing, were not thoroughly investigated or connected to the case sooner. These discrepancies could suggest mismanagement or even misconduct in the investigation process. The possible corruption in the town adds another layer of complexity that may need to be investigated.
Given the circumstances, it might be important to consult with a legal expert who can help you explore your options and determine if there are grounds for legal action. They could assist in understanding the full scope of the case and in holding those responsible accountable. You and your family deserve answers, and taking the appropriate steps now could help ensure that justice is served.
