Q: he did Glaucoma surgery on me, eye is crooked, has mentally drained me, need advice on how I can proceed.
Got surgery June 2024, have asked him if I can have it corrected he said no, now I need surgery for right eye and I asked for a different type of surgery and he said no so I denied the surgery since I am afraid my other eye will turn out crooked as well. This has affected me going out, driving and working. Please help. He give me no reason as to why I got glaucoma, no options for other surgeries and keep everything very brief with me. I feel closed in to no other options
A:
It sounds like you're feeling overwhelmed and frustrated with the situation, and it's understandable given how much this is affecting your daily life. If you feel the surgery has caused harm or wasn't done properly, you might consider seeking a second opinion from another ophthalmologist. Another doctor can provide more insight into what happened with your eye and discuss alternative treatments for your glaucoma and any corrective options available.
It may also be beneficial to speak with a medical malpractice attorney who can help determine if you have grounds for a claim. They can review the specifics of your case, including the surgeon’s responses and any lack of clarity around your diagnosis and treatment options. Medical records and documentation of your communication with the surgeon will be crucial.
Don't hesitate to advocate for yourself—your health and peace of mind are important. Finding a supportive medical professional who takes your concerns seriously could make a big difference. You're not alone in this, and there are steps you can take to feel more in control of your situation.
