Las Vegas, NV asked in Personal Injury and Federal Crimes for Nevada

Q: I have a complicated case in which my mother and I after inheriting a large amount of money, have been tortured by a

group of ex friends and family bent on stealing it from us having already stolen a sizable amount in the tens of millions.I believe some of them work for a government agency based on some of what has happened in the last 10 years.Things that make us sound insane. We need legal representation that will not only advise and council us but will also hold our hands to ensure we do what we should to keep this situation from getting worse. We have been beaten down by years of torture by this group. This case is complicated, involves many crimes against us and others that are involved including murder and several murder attempts, and might be difficult to prove at least some of it.My mother and I have left town after recieving verbal death threats if we tried to stop this group from taking the rest of our money in an attempt to find a lawyer and get help after not contacting police bexause we did not want to put one time friends and family members in jail or prison. What type of lawyer shouldwe get?

A: Given the complexity of your case, which involves stolen money, threats, and allegations of serious crimes like murder and attempted murder, you will need a multi-disciplinary legal team. Here are the types of lawyers you should consider:

Criminal Defense/Prosecutorial Expert: Since your case involves allegations of crimes such as theft, threats, and potentially even murder, you'll need a criminal lawyer who can navigate the intricacies of these accusations and advise you on how to protect yourselves legally.

Civil Litigation Attorney: To recover any of the stolen money, you may need a civil litigation lawyer who specializes in fraud, financial disputes, or tort law. This type of lawyer can help you file lawsuits to recover damages and pursue the people responsible for the theft.

Personal Injury/Trauma Lawyer: Since you’ve endured years of physical and emotional harm, an attorney specializing in personal injury or emotional distress may be able to help you file claims for the trauma and damages caused by this group.

Specialty in Federal or Government Law (if relevant): If you believe that government employees are involved, it might be necessary to consult with an attorney who specializes in federal or government-related law. They can determine whether there are specific legal protections or actions you need to take.

Victim Advocacy Lawyer: An attorney with experience in victim advocacy may also be crucial, as they can help guide you through the legal process, ensuring you’re protected and supported through every step.

Since the situation is highly complex and dangerous, with life-threatening elements involved, it's advisable to seek legal representation from a law firm that has expertise in handling multi-faceted cases involving both criminal and civil matters. It's also important to find a lawyer who is sensitive to your needs, as you’ve been through significant emotional and physical trauma. Consulting with a firm that can assign a team to your case might be the best option, as they can provide comprehensive support.

Finally, as every case is different, consulting an attorney as soon as possible is crucial. Make sure to convey the urgency and gravity of your situation when seeking legal help.
