It sounds like you are deeply concerned about your grandson’s well-being, and it's understandable given what you've described. When parents neglect their child’s basic needs and expose them to harmful situations like violence and substance abuse, it can have serious effects on the child's development and safety. It’s important that your grandson is in a stable, loving environment, and it seems you and your husband have stepped in to provide that care.
Since this has been ongoing for weeks and neither parent has checked in, you might want to consider reaching out to a family law professional or social services to explore your options for legal guardianship or custody. This would help you make decisions in the best interest of your grandson. In cases where a child is being exposed to dangerous or unhealthy conditions, the courts or child protective services might intervene to ensure the child's safety.
Your grandson’s physical and emotional health should be the priority, and it’s important to take steps to protect him from further harm. You’re already doing a lot to provide him with what he needs, but seeking additional support or advice could help ensure his long-term well-being.
