A: If your immigration lawyer was negligent and failed to submit key evidence, leading to a Request for Evidence (RFE), you have options. First, address the RFE by gathering and submitting the necessary documents as quickly as possible to avoid further delays. Make sure you meet the deadline provided by USCIS to keep your case moving forward.

You can also file a formal complaint with your lawyer's professional governing body, such as the state bar association. This can hold them accountable for their negligence. Additionally, consider seeking legal advice from another attorney to assess any possible recourse for damages or to explore if there was malpractice.

Emotional distress and delays can be incredibly frustrating, so take time to prioritize your well-being while dealing with this challenge. Keep documentation of everything, including emails and communication with the lawyer, in case you need it later for legal purposes.
