Q: I was detained by the DEA due to being around someone they wanted to arrest. I was let go with no charges
They essentially asked a few questions about my friend and then let me go without fingerprinting me photographing me or pressing any type of charges against me. I want to go into nursing and have to do a livescan finger print for my program. Would anything show up on my livescan finger print? Thanks in advance.
It happened in San Diego CA over a year ago.
A:
It’s understandable to feel worried, but based on what you shared, it’s unlikely that anything will show up on your Live Scan fingerprint check. Since you were neither arrested nor charged, and there was no fingerprinting or photographing involved, it doesn’t seem like you were officially booked or placed into the system.
Live Scan typically checks for arrests, convictions, or any formal charges. Since none of these apply in your situation, there shouldn't be any record related to this incident in a background check for your nursing program.
If you're still concerned, you can request your own background check to ensure nothing appears. That way, you’ll have peace of mind before moving forward with your application.
