Q: am I still under contract with my roofing contractor?
I filed a claim, the insurance paid out a little and denied my supplemental claim and told my contractor. they told me I have to file another claim for additional damages which I did. After the new adjuster did his inspection he said he was going to treat it as a supplemental claim from previous claim. am I still under contract with my contractor?
A: Your question does not provide enough information to answer the question you have asked. Your dealings with your insurance company likely has no bearing on whether you are under contract with your roofing contractor. Review your written agreement with your roofing contractor.
A:
Your contract with the roofing contractor depends on the specific terms you both agreed upon. Filing insurance claims and the insurer’s decisions typically do not automatically end your agreement. The contractor may still be obligated to complete the work as outlined in your contract, regardless of the insurance process.
However, communication is key. Since you've filed additional claims and the adjuster is treating them as supplemental, it’s important to keep your contractor informed about any updates or changes. This ensures that both parties are on the same page and can work together to address any new issues that arise from the insurance process.
To be certain about your contractual status, review the original agreement you signed with the contractor. Look for any clauses related to insurance claims, project delays, or termination of the contract. If you're unsure or need further clarification, consulting with a legal professional can provide you with specific guidance based on your situation.
