Brighton, MA asked in Contracts and Insurance Defense for Connecticut

Q: Friend disappeared with my financed car and stopped making payments, can I report it as stolen?

I had a verbal agreement with a friend where she can use one of my cars and she'll cover the car loan payments. This worked for more than a year until she just recently disappeared and stopped paying. My concern is what are my lawful rights in here since the car is financed. What are my chances of insurance paying the claim for the car if I report it as stolen?

A: You may have a good chance to make an insurance claim for the car being stolen since that is really what happened here ... Disappearing with someone else's property, without paying for it, is theft.
