A: Many lawyers offer free consultations so if you wish to call one up and talk about your case they can discuss it with you at no charge. Whether or not to hire a lawyer in your case is ultimately your decision.

A: Generally it's best to have a lawyer if you're charged with a misdemeanor or felony. And sometimes even traffic violations can result in job loss, license suspensions or greatly increased insurance. It's usually best to have an attorney if you can afford it but if you're not charged with a misdemeanor or felony and have a great record you might want to try yourself. Get a free consultation to see if it's worth it to you or not.
