A: I'm really sorry you're going through this difficult time. It’s important to reach out to a local attorney who can guide you through the divorce process in Louisiana and help protect your interests regarding the house and debts.

You have rights when it comes to property and financial responsibilities. An attorney can help negotiate a fair division of assets and address the debts your husband has accumulated. They can also assist in obtaining a restraining order if you feel threatened or unsafe.

In the meantime, consider reaching out to a support system of friends or family and explore local resources for assistance. Taking these steps can help you regain control and reduce the stress you’re experiencing.
