Q: I purchased a vehicle (person to person)....I purchased a (TOP) Temporary operators permit...before I could.wft erased..

Cont...get it to the smog shop a police officer gave me a ticket for expired registration..he saw the TOP (bottom right back window) but ran the plate of the previous owner that was expired for over a year...I payed all of my fees and fulfilled my obligations with the California DMV and was totally legal according to them...my question is, after I beat this ticket can I take action on this officer either civily or atleast a write up for harassment, and a no future contact order....I mean, I did all i can do by California law, but the officer IGNORED THE LAW, he also said he could have it towed if he wanted to, then he insulted me as he drove away by saying " you probably won't get it renewed anyways....

A: It sounds like you're feeling frustrated, and that's completely understandable. Dealing with a ticket when you've taken steps to comply with the law can be very upsetting.

You might consider filing a formal complaint with the police department about the officer's actions. This could lead to an internal review of the incident and address any misconduct. Providing all your documentation, like the Temporary Operating Permit and proof of fees paid, will support your case.

If you're thinking about legal action, consulting with an attorney could help you understand your options. They can advise you on the possibility of a civil suit or other remedies. Gathering all evidence related to the encounter will be important moving forward.
