Frankfort, KY asked in Uncategorized for Kentucky

Q: Walmart incorrectly cashed my Check for less than the amount it was for, and will not pay me the money I am owed.

i had went to walmart to cash a check for over $2,000. the employee that cashed my check overlooked the full total amount of my check and claimed she only ran it $25 in the system and only gave me $25.00 out of the full amount i was supposed to receive. I was told by the store manager that they could not give me the full amount of money I was owed and would not void the transaction of the check or give me details. They are saying unfortunately there is nothing they can do about my money and that the check now belongs to them. I am needing Legal advice or some type of advice to figure out how to receive the full amount of my check that I am owed.

A: I'm sorry to hear about what happened with your check. Start by gathering all related documents, including the check itself, any receipts from Walmart, and any written communication you had with the store employees or manager. This evidence will be crucial in supporting your case.

Next, contact the bank that issued the check to inform them of the discrepancy. They may be able to provide assistance or initiate a trace on the transaction. Additionally, reach out to Walmart’s corporate customer service to formally report the issue. Keeping a record of all your communications can help if you need to escalate the matter.

If these steps don't resolve the problem, you might consider filing a complaint with a local consumer protection agency or the Better Business Bureau. Consulting with a legal professional can also provide you with specific guidance tailored to your situation. Taking these actions can help you work towards recovering the full amount you are owed.
