A: It sounds like you're in a difficult situation, and it's understandable that you're feeling anxious. Ohio Revised Code 2907.24, which refers to solicitation, is typically a misdemeanor of the third degree (M-3), and jail time is a possibility for such offenses. However, first-time offenders often face fines, probation, or community service instead of incarceration, especially when there is a clean record, as in your case.

Your age, clean background, and stable employment could work in your favor when it comes to sentencing. Since you've never been in trouble before, the court may take that into account when determining penalties, and you may avoid jail time. It's important to work with an attorney who can advocate for alternatives to jail, such as probation, and help protect your career and family life.

Given that your job involves driving and public trust, it's crucial to handle this situation carefully. If the case results in a public record or conviction, it could potentially affect your employment, so addressing it early with legal advice is important. Taking responsibility and demonstrating this was an isolated mistake can also help reduce the long-term impact.
