Phoenix, AZ asked in Criminal Law, Family Law and Juvenile Law for Arizona

Q: Was my situation handled correctly? Or should i hire a lawyer and take further action?

A student at my sons school offered my son candy to follow him off school property while my son was using the bathroom during parent teacher conferences. An other student walked in and asked the kid what he was doing and he stated that he was trying to take my kid out of school The school had my son ID the kid, the kid admitted to offering my son candy and says it was just a joke. The school told me disciplinary actions were taken but the child will still be going to school with my son. This kid is a minor as well hes in 6-7th grade my son is 5 in kinder, because he stated that it was a joke, the school isnt taking it serious. I filed a police report and although this has all the qualifications of an attempted abduction, i am being told that nothing can be done. The cops didn't guarantee theyd speak to the childs parents, only that theyd TRY. Overall said if i didnt like sending my son to school with the kid there, to look at other options for schooling.
