Q: Is the boat considered abandoned and can I claim it as my own
So a couple of years ago the neighbor next door was parking a boat on my side of the driveway. I share a driveway with the duplex next door but the guy was not a tenant of mine. When I talked to the guy he explained to me that the guy that owned the boat had left town for California for a job and asked him if he would watch his stuff until he got back to get it. And for doing that, he could have the boat. So the guy agreed. Since that time, the guy that that was given the boat has been kicked out of the duplex next door. Now I have this boat in my backyard that has been sitting there for a year and I don't even know who the rightful owner is. And it doesn't appear that anyone is interested in recovering it. So my question is, is that boat considered abandoned by law and I can keep it for myself or do I need to do something with it?
