Asked in Family Law and Domestic Violence for Alabama

Q: I live with my boyfriend in a house he owns. I want to file a pfa due to him physically abusingme and threatening me

We have lived together for 2 and 1/2 years. The first two years we lived in a home that he moved in with me and then I moved in with him about 6 months ago. I have no income other than help from family and friends at times. I am in the middle of appealing SSA disability. I am terminally ill with Stage 4 congestive heart failure. He has slapped, pushed, knocked me down, strangled me, thrown items at me, damaged my property. I have pictures, text messages, recordings and witnesses to verify the abuse. I have not yet filed a police report out of fear and being homeless or destitute He has had pfas and domestic violence charges in past relationships. Can he be ordered out of the home and me stay? I help with all bills and have utilities in my name.
