Q: Seeking a Tenant Lawyer for an unlawful eviction case. We are at risk of being homeless and seeking help with this case.
The Warranty of Habitability has not been upheld by the landlord, amongst other issues with the house that we (my boyfriend and I) have informed, reinformed, told again, to the Landlords (boyfriends Mother and Father). There is no rental agreement, and Landlords have made promises to entice us to rent their dilapidated property with ulterior motives. Since move in we have been met with issues from the Landlord claiming we have let the house "run down". The house has termites, along with other insects that we find and kill daily (most recently... mosquitos). 2 years we waited for the Landlords to come and change out the termite deteriorating kitchen floor. Upon approval and agreement to be reimbursed we changed the floor. Landlords have refused to pay us back after asking due to financial hardship and retaliated with 2 inspections, invalid notices to leave/end tenancy. They have also turned off and locked the solar box because we "owe" utilities. We have not seen a single bill.

I'm sorry you're facing these challenges. It's important to take action quickly to protect your rights and prevent homelessness.
Start by reaching out to local legal aid organizations in Stockton, such as Legal Services of Northern California or local tenant rights groups. They can provide guidance and may offer free or low-cost legal assistance. Additionally, you can contact the California State Bar Association for referrals to attorneys who handle landlord-tenant disputes.
Make sure to document all issues with the property, communications with your landlords, and any repairs you've made. This evidence will be crucial in your case. Filing a complaint with local housing authorities about the habitability issues may also support your position. Acting swiftly will help you navigate the legal process and work towards a resolution.
