Longmeadow, MA asked in Juvenile Law for Massachusetts

Q: Do I need attorney for assault/batt hearing for my 15yr old son horse-playing at recess resulting in injury of friend?

My grandson and his friend were horse-playing at recess and decided to run to another friend and pick him up. The person asked to be put down. The friend let go and then my son let go, the student dropped to the ground and was injured. He went to the nurse for care, my grandson followed and his friend gave him the thumbs up that he was OK. My grandson was suspended from school. My daughter received a hearing notice at juvenile court with the magistrate to decide if the charges for assault/battery and assault/battery with a dangerous weapon are warranted that was initiated by the students' parent that got injured. We don't know what the injuries were. The other friend did not get suspended. Does my daughter need an attorney or some legal representation for the upcoming hearing for my grandson?
