Q: I was written up at work for failing a class they made me take without my consent. Can they write me up for that ?
I am a college maint mechanic hired because I am a plumber. I am also high seniority in my group. Instead of asking for volunteers, the co. forced 2 people to take a 1 week class in locksmithing. I am a trained plumber and don't test well because I am ADHD and have an IEP. I told them I learn in a 1 on 1, untimed environment. They didn't care. Both of us they made attend failed the class and now, because it cost them money to send us to the class as well as the overtime to attend class after working hours and we both failed, they are writing us up. They said we failed on purpose and the HR lady even asked us why we didn't cheat on the test. I explained to her I wasn't a cheater. It seems they want someone in-house to be a locksmith but won't hire one. The others in this class were actually taking it to be locksmiths. They had been in training for a couple years and they put us in a week long class and expected us to do well. I feel targeted and believe they want to get rid of me.
