Lavallette, NJ asked in Landlord - Tenant for New Jersey

Q: Can I get New Jersey landlord, tenant advise here?

It's regarding the Security Deposit Law, the part that states if the landlord does not provide in written within 30 days of receipt of security deposit payment of what bank, the location of that bank and proof that 7% interest will be gained yearly in that account. Since that information was not provided, I would like to remedy this with my right to apply those funds towards rent.. Also curious about having been over charged also on said security deposit. We paid 2x monthly rent for the security deposit not the standard month & ½. Was unaware til this week it is unlawful in NJ to charge anything more then that 1½ month that's usually the security deposit request. Can I pay two months rent with the SDL? Also can the landlord attempt to or be able to evict my family over using this law?
