Q: What can an officer do for a 31+mph ticket when they instruct you to plead not guilty and they will “work with you” ?
I was on my motorcycle, am 45 years old and have not had a ticket since I was 18. The officer said the ticket comes with license suspension but because I was respectful and courteous to plead not guilty and he will work with me in court. I asked if I should bring a lawyer and he said I have a right to but it would really just be him and I meeting and having a conversation.
He said the stopwatch actually read 76.9 but he wrote the ticket for 76 and the car next to me was going the same speed but I was the one he clocked.
The ticket says miles timed was .037 but the Secs. Timed is blank.
I drive for a living so need to avoid a suspension or excessive speed as I will face disciplinary action at work for a speed over 23mph.
I’m willing to pay whatever fine or plead to whatever as long as it does not affect my job. What’s my best course?
