Q: Are there regulations around slaughtering my own livestock on my own property for personal consumption?
I have received two calls from the local sheriff department about complaints from a neighbor that sincerely despises me about my husband slaughtering our sheep on our own property. I'm looking for guidance on what regulations we need to be following to keep it legal. The meat we process is only for our family we do not sell any of the meat or byproducts. I make broth from the bones and tan the hides (I think this is the part the neighbors are trying to complain about because the hides could be visible with binoculars from their house).
