Q: I missed payments on my house and I got put on a payment plan my mom just passed away a month or so ago and I am getting
Money out of her account but It may take like 2 to 3 weeks they told me if I not make payment by end of Nov they start forclosing on me what can I do I don't want to loose my house
A:
I'm very sorry about the loss of your mother - losing a parent is incredibly difficult, and dealing with financial stress at the same time makes it even harder.
Your best immediate step is to contact your mortgage servicer (the company you make payments to) right away. Explain your situation, including the expected inheritance funds, and ask if they can give you a short extension until those funds arrive. Many lenders would rather work with you than start foreclosure proceedings, especially if you can show proof that money is coming soon. You might also request to speak with their loss mitigation department, which handles hardship cases.
If the lender won't budge on the timeline, you could explore emergency loans from other family members, look into local housing assistance programs, or contact HUD-approved housing counselors who provide free guidance on avoiding foreclosure. The key is to act quickly and stay in communication with your lender - ignoring the situation will only make things worse. Be clear about your plan to catch up using the inheritance money, and get any agreements from the lender in writing.
