Q: Can I sue an assisted living home who lost my mother?
I went to check up on my mother at an assisted living home today only to find out she had been taken to a hospital after a fall, and that they didn't know about it. While I was searching for her I couldn't get a hold on anyone from the office, they leave at 4 and nobody else comes in, btw it was like 3:55, so in my panic I called the emergency maintenance line and when I said she could be lying dead on the floor right now they told me it wasn't their problem and to call the police. I finally got a resident to call the on-site maintenance worker and they took me into her apartment for a wellness check and they had no idea she had been gone from her apartment for 6 days. They knew someone was picked up by an ambulance early in the morning on halloween, but they made no effort to find out who was missing.
