Q: Can sheriff deputy have a truck towed to my residence just to show up later for a knock and talk at 11:37 pm?
A guy I knew came to my house and intentionally left a duffle bag with drugs in my house. I was sick in bed. He gets arrested for aggravated DUI, drug and firearm possession. The truck is towed to my house. Later the deputy showed up with ATF and St troopers and knocked on my door. I got out of bed and answered the door. They asked me if I had been smoking marijuana and I hadn't. Ask me if the guy who owns the truck live with me and I said no. Ask if he has any drugs or guns at my house and I said no. I then said I'm going back to bed and done with the questions. They all suddenly agreed they smelled marijuana and went for a warrant after I wouldn't let them search. After a few hours detained in cuffs the warrant arrived. Warrant said look for drugs guns and ammo and bring it to the court. They were saying they needed to search the truck again for the reason to come to my house. They never even looked in it.
