A:
I'm sorry you're facing this challenging situation. Start by formally requesting a copy of the trust and a detailed accounting of the estate in writing. Send this request via certified mail so you have a record of your efforts to communicate.
If your sister continues to withhold information, reach out to the San Diego County probate court for guidance. They can provide information on your rights as a beneficiary and the procedures for addressing an uncooperative executor. The court may offer resources or suggest mediation to resolve the conflict.
Additionally, look for local legal aid organizations or support groups that assist individuals in probate matters without high costs. They can help you understand your options and take the necessary steps to ensure your mother’s wishes are respected. Stay persistent and keep detailed records of all interactions related to the trust and estate.
