Batavia, NY asked in Divorce for New York

Q: My Spouse started a divorce online using onlinedivorce.com program

The divorce was started in early September. We both reside in NY State. The only thing that I have received and completed was the questionnaire. I consulted the company several times about the status of my case however, I was told that they are not a middle man. Per a court order, I am not allowed contact of any sort so, I can't asked my spouse about the progress or current status. I feel like she is delaying the progress as it's been nearly three months with no headway. I contacted the court in the county where they reside and there is NO docket number on file. I would like to move forward with my life and would like to know what my options are as far as getting the ball rolling and completing the divorce process. Can I legally file myself or is there another option?

A: Yes, you can file your own papers. If it turns out that your spouse filed papers before you, then one of the divorces will need to be cancelled.
