Houston, TX asked in Child Custody and Child Support for Texas

Q: what do i need to do in order to counterclaim and respond to a custody lawsuit?

child's father is unstable. a history of alcohol abuse, insomnia, depression and anxiety. He isn't allowed to work for the state because of instances that happened while he was in active duty. he owns a gun that is military grade, and he keeps it out in the open or out at all times. he does not know how to control his emotions when things do not go his way and he also has anger issues where he lashes out violently slamming doors and things. i left the relationship after i found out i was pregnant. i was afraid of how he would react so i snuck to the bathroom the night before and called my sister to pick me and my 11 mth old at the time. he was so engulfed in playing his game, drinking alcohol and redbull that he didnt know i was moving my things out silently. i had to hide his weapon because i was in fear of him using it to force me to stay. during my whole pregnancy he constantly harassed me and caused me stress so much that i got a nosebleed. i had to call 911 for him to leave me be

A: You need to retain a lawyer if you want to protect your child. You may be able to get supervised visitation for the father.
