Louisville, KY asked in Car Accidents, Personal Injury and Criminal Law for Kentucky

Q: I need advice/information on where I can report an uninsured driver that hit and ran and caused injuries.

First, I will say that I am on my third law group for this accident and I know that the driver that hit and ran had no car insurance. Next, when I was in a cab in April this year a different driver side swiped us and drove off.I got pictures of the car and plate and the cab driver did call 911 but the police never showed up on site.I did make a police report with the limited information I had at the time.I did call the police recently about this matter and they said the most they can do if they see this driver is cite them for not having car insurance and registration revoked.I would like to know if there's any way/any person I can contact to give them the information I have to put this person in jail/prison, give them a fine, suspend their driver's license, etc. I got an updated MRI recently for my back and it shows and increased bulging disc in my back and part of the taxi had moderate/severe damage from the accident.Any help/advice is appreciated.

A: Persistence sometimes works. You may be able to research the driver by license plate number. If you have uninsured coverage you can let them handle that issue, as they will seek to recover what they paid from the driver at fault.
