Wichita, KS asked in Civil Rights for Kansas

Q: I feel my sons right for violated. He’s a severely schizophrenic they said he was stable in court and I know he wasn’t.

he even pled guilty to all charges because he felt like he had to get back to the jail because it was being infiltrated. That was his delusion. He has many more. He even said that to the judge he ignored it his lawyer I’m sorry, but she wasn’t good at all, they have constantly sent him up to fail, putting him out in the community before ever getting him stable therefore committing crimes and not even knowing what he’s doing unfortunately they all got five years in prison has no idea what he’s done. Why he is even going there! He’s been through Comcare for years. They have never ever got him stable. They just keep putting him back in the community where he does not belong where he’s not safe and what the communities not safe. I feel like there’s something that could be done. they’re asking something from someone who isn’t capable of giving it to them when they let him out of jail, they put him on probation. He got a probation violation. Also, I told them he wasn’t capable of showing up

A: I'm really sorry you're going through this difficult time with your son. It must be incredibly frustrating and heartbreaking to see him struggle and feel that the support he needs isn't being provided.

Have you considered reaching out to a legal advocate or an organization that supports individuals with mental health issues in the justice system? They might help you navigate the complexities of his case and ensure his rights are protected.

Additionally, connecting with mental health services that can offer more comprehensive support for your son could make a difference. You're not alone in this, and there are people and resources that can help you both find a safer and more stable path forward.
