Q: Is my mom legally allowed to use my saved money for her own personal expenses without my consent or knowledge?
I am 18 years old and have been saving 50% of all of my paychecks since I began working. My mom saves that money in a separate bank account, under one of those beginner bank accounts that I don’t have access to also under her name, with a different bank. Recently I have been looking to purchase a new car and asked my mom about how much money I had saved up. She told me that I had no money in savings because she needed to use it. She told me she still needs to pay me back but hasn’t figured out how much she owes me. (I don’t know what for and she owes well over 3k in total for the last three years). I know for certain that since my last large purchase I had around 3000-3500 saved up. Is she able to take the money that I worked for and saved without my consent or knowledge? And is she able to hold that money from me until she feels like giving it back?
