Q: Should I drop my lawyer? Will we still need to go to trial if I drop my lawyer?
Hired divorce lawyer. Sounds and I decided to settle and made an agreement that was sent to lawyer in October. Lawyer calls me day before court date on Dec 10 and states he’s still waiting on our agreement. I told him it was sent in October. He got upset and stated he never received it. We got off the phone and he called back an hour later saying, “I apologize, I did received and we just need to draw up paperwork.” Next day on court date on Dev 11, over phone, judge makes a court date in March that is actually a trial date because “we never came up with an agreement”. I was not present during this phone call with judge since I worked night before and worked night of and lawyer said I didn’t need to be in attendance” since he is just updating judge on our aggreement. Now I’m upset because we sent an agreement in October but judge says he’s never seen it and now we’re going to trial.
