A: The citizenship information you provide about your parents on your U.S. passport application is used solely for establishing your own citizenship status and identity.

Since you were born in the United States, you have birthright citizenship under the 14th Amendment, regardless of your parents' immigration status. The State Department uses this parental information to verify your identity and citizenship claim, not to investigate or take action regarding your parents' status.

Your passport application is protected by privacy laws, and the information cannot be shared with immigration enforcement agencies for the purpose of immigration actions. However, if you have specific concerns about your family's situation, you might want to consult with an immigration attorney who can review your particular circumstances and provide personalized legal guidance.
