A: You made a purchase from a seller who may have breached the contract by failing to deliver the vehicle. You took steps such as paying with a bank check, making your first car payment, and obtaining insurance, which shows you acted in good faith.

You have the right to seek reimbursement for out-of-pocket expenses, including rental costs, if the seller’s actions caused you to incur those expenses. You might also have grounds for a claim under state consumer protection laws, which could support the recovery of your damages.

You can gather all documents related to the transaction, including proof of payment, insurance records, and rental receipts, then demand compensation from the seller. You can also explore small claims court if the seller refuses to compensate you. You may want to research relevant statutes or consult an attorney in your area to assess the best next steps.
