A: You have a challenging situation with both property rights and the business involved. Since the property is legally your grandmother's, she retains ownership despite the shop being there. When your father passed away, his ownership of the shop likely transferred to his wife as per his will. Now that she has also passed away, the executor of her will has the authority to manage her assets, which might include changing the locks if the shop was part of her estate.

To address being kept off the property, you should first review the wills and any related legal documents to understand the exact ownership and rights. Consulting with a lawyer who can provide specific advice based on your situation is essential. They can help you determine if the executor is acting within their rights and explore options to regain access if necessary.

Regarding the abandoned business, you might need to negotiate with the executor or the current property owner to find a solution. This could involve reclaiming the business assets or reaching an agreement about the property’s use. Legal guidance will be crucial in navigating these steps and ensuring your interests are protected.
