Q: My parents live in Texas but want to move back to Michigan. How long do they need to reside here to qualify for Medicaid

My mother is in worse shape than my father but they both have fallen several times and mom is currently in rehab in Texas.

A: Actually if you are referring to long term care Medicaid, she only has to be in the state and residing in a nursing home in a Medicaid bed. What county, what are the assets and respective incomes. If one needs a nursing home most likely we can protect all the assets for the community spouse.
