Q: How much should it cost to title an already-owned property in Louisiana to a trust? I got one quote for $2K. Seems high.
A: More information is needed on this included but not limited to what exactly are you seeking to do, how many properties, whether or not a title search is requested and/or being provided. Additionally, the costs to do this include attorney/legal fees plus filing/recordation fees. $2K may be high as i suspect that if you ask around you can obtain different estimates, but in the end, you want to make sure that the transaction is properly completed and will not be questioned at a later date so the lowest quote may not be the best option. Again, more information is needed.
A:
If the fee also includes creation of the trust, then that fee is actually very low.
If the trust already exists and is suitable for the purpose then I agree with my colleague Mr. Ligh that there is not enough information to judge the fee.
