Q: Should I quit or get terminated for better unemployment benefits in FL?
I was hired in early 2024 for a retail bank transaction monitoring role with 2 years of experience, but no experience in brokerage investigations. In mid-2024, without prior consultation, I was moved to a brokerage role with a significant workload increase, from 1 case per day to 5, which has been unsustainable due to the complexity and a worsening wrist injury. In early 2025, my duties changed again to advanced brokerage investigations far beyond my expertise and original job description. I have not received accommodations for my injury. Should I resign or continue working until I am terminated to improve my chances of qualifying for unemployment benefits? What are my best options under Florida employment law considering these circumstances, and my wrist injury?
