Q: Can I face jail time for a lapsed insurance accident?
I was involved in a car accident yesterday in which I hit someone. At the scene, my insurance appeared valid, but later I found out it had lapsed. Law enforcement issued me a ticket. Given this situation, is there a possibility that I could face jail time?

A: It's technically a possibility, but practically- I know of no jurisdiction that actually recommends jail time for a first offense of on this charge.

A: 'Not likely, but look into the cause of the lapse. If something went wrong with an auto-pay feature or other payment method, investigate the cause promptly to avoid a future lapse. Good luck
