Q: How can I dispute a SNAP overpayment error and recover my funds in Louisiana?
I was approved for SNAP benefits and received a letter on 12/7/2023 from the Department of Fraud and Recovery Unit stating that I was overpaid by $3,048 in benefits due to an agency error from 6/2023 to 11/2023 because I failed to provide verification by the due date of 6/29/2023. My application was submitted on 6/6/2023 and was authorized without the necessary verification. I have not provided documentation since then, as the benefits were approved erroneously. I believe someone may be investigating me to make it appear as if I did something wrong, although I have not committed any fraud. How can I dispute this overpayment and get back the money that has been taken due to this error?
