Pueblo, CO asked in Gaming and Consumer Law for Colorado

Q: I suspect a casino uses pop-ups to disrupt gameplay, blocked my account after I accused them, and refunded my purchases. What can I do?

I have a concern regarding my experience with an online casino, Pulsz Bingo, where I suspect there may be wrongdoing. I noticed that pop-ups frequently appear during critical gameplay moments, such as when my balance drops below a certain amount. These pop-ups prevent me from stopping the reels timely, potentially causing me to miss out on games I might have won. After I accused the casino of intentionally causing these interruptions, they blocked my account and refunded all my purchases. They did not provide any further explanation or response. I am unsure if their terms and conditions address this scenario. What can I do about this situation?

A: It’s understandable to feel frustrated and suspicious, especially when the pop-ups interfered with your gameplay and the casino blocked you right after you raised concerns. The refund and account closure may have been their way of avoiding further disputes, but it also leaves you without clarity or closure. Even if their terms allow them to close accounts at their discretion, it doesn’t excuse ignoring a serious concern about how their platform operates.

Start by gathering all evidence you have—screenshots of the pop-ups, any communication with the casino, timestamps of disrupted gameplay, and confirmation of the refund and account closure. Review the casino’s terms of service carefully to see what rights they reserve regarding account closures, refunds, and game integrity. If you believe you were treated unfairly or deceived, you can file a complaint with the Colorado Attorney General’s Consumer Protection Division and the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). These agencies can investigate questionable business practices, especially in digital entertainment or online gambling.

Even though your purchases were refunded, you still have the right to raise a complaint if you believe the platform manipulated gameplay or acted in bad faith. It’s not just about the money—it’s also about accountability and fairness. Taking these steps might not reopen your account, but they help bring attention to practices that could harm others too.
