Q: Is it advisable to sign a confession of judment for a hospitsl bill

A: It depends. You do not provide any information and I have not seen the document. Is there a judgment against you? Have you agreed to make any kind of payments? If there is a judgment does the creditor promise not to execute on the judgment for so long as you make payments, then its probably ok to sign. I would question why you are making payments if you live in NC, but that is a separate issue. If there is only a lawsuit, many creditors want debtors to sign to a payment agreement in exchange for dismissing the lawsuit or even to resolve the lawsuit. So in those cases it may make sense. If this is in advance of litigation, I am not sure why it has to be signed.
