Pensacola, FL asked in Child Support for Florida

Q: If my son's father pays $400.00 by check directly to me and I need medicaid, can they legally make me get a court order?

His father lives in Alabama and we have a paper trail. He also hasn't signed the birth certificate which I know he needs to do. They just always say I am not in complience with child support enforcment even though I have sent signed letters and copys of checks to them. They still give benefits to my nine year old and other two children but not me. I really need health coverage to have my birth control inplant changed because I cannot afford it and it's getting dangerous because it has a five year limit and I am just over that.

A: If you are getting government assistance, yes they can force you to go to court.
