Seminole, OK asked in Uncategorized for Oklahoma

Q: Can I keep money wired into my account by accident?

I had a loan transfered into my account for $6900 yesterday. Today an additional $6900 was wired in. Can I keep that money? Or is it inevitable to have to pay it back. The loan was only for $6900.

I paid a wire fee twice, once for each wire.

A: You will have to pay it back. They will eventually discover it. However, a better course would be to call the loan company and let them know of their mistake. You can ask them to reimburse you for your wire fees.

A: I agree with what the other lawyer said and would add that you be cautious here. If your loan is through an individual you do not know or an entity that isn't bona fide, this is a common fraud scheme.

They send extra money or too much money and ask you to send it back from your account. If you do that before the funds clear on their side and their initial transaction was fraudulent, then you lose all the money you sent to them in addition to the money that was deposited into your account.

I wish you the best.
