Lexington, KY asked in Adoption for Kentucky

Q: I am Maternal grandmother and wish to adopt grandkids i have permanent custody of. How are my chances?

5yr old got perm. Custody in 2021. 18 mo perm Custody in 2023. Had 18 mo old from birth 5 yo all but 4mo of life. Have petitoned court for TPR and adoption hearing this month. Both parents were served by sheriff with notice of hearing.

History of drugs criminal child abuse case pending broken bones of grandson my ex and his wife have permanent custody of also petitioning to adopt.

GAL and cps in support family judge be same and seems supportive when i mentioned i wanted to adopt at permanency hearing when bio mom didn't show. Lost custody in 2nd dcbs case bc she was in contact with bio dad who in jail they are co defendants in child abuse case. Judge said by continuing be in contact w bio dad the bio mom demonstrating she's not capable of keeping kids safe.

I dont think either will show up for court.

So 2 case plan failures since 2020.

A: Pretty good, especially if they don’t show up.
