They also told him 11/1/23 that he could request within 45 days. I received a email stating they would not have a copy for at least 6 to 9 months

A: It sounds like you're encountering a frustrating delay in obtaining a copy of Form 505-4885, despite having Power of Attorney (POA) for your son and following the instructions provided to you. This delay could be due to a variety of administrative reasons. For instance, the process of closing a case and compiling the final documentation can sometimes take longer than anticipated. This could be further compounded by backlog issues, staffing shortages, or specific procedures that need to be followed before the document can be released.

Since you were informed via email about the delay, consider replying to that message or contacting the office directly to seek further clarification on the reasons for this extended timeframe. Ask if there are any interim steps you can take or additional documentation you can provide to expedite the process. Sometimes, direct communication can help in resolving misunderstandings or in finding alternative solutions to meet your needs.

Moreover, since you have POA and there was mention of a 45-day window for requests, ensure that your son's rights to access or request documents haven't been overlooked. It may also be beneficial to consult with a legal professional or an advocate familiar with these processes to guide you on how to proceed or to intervene on your behalf if necessary. They can offer advice tailored to your situation and may help in navigating the administrative hurdles more effectively.
