Starkville, MS asked in Gov & Administrative Law for Mississippi

Q: Doesn’t everyone know that it’s unconstitutional to impeach someone who is no longer in office? Why was Trump impeached?

1. Why wasn’t Nixon impeached after he resigned.?

2. The Chief Justice is required to preside over a Presidential impeachment, so wasn’t it unconstitutional to conduct Trump’s impeachment without the Chief Justice? (After all, it shouldn’t matter if he wasn’t President at the time he was impeached , but that on 6 January 2021 he was President acting in his capacity as President that requires the Chief to preside- right?) In other words, Pelosi is damned for what she did, but also damned for what she didn’t do - right?

3. Doesn’t Article 1, Sec. 3, para 7 in the first fourteen words say that an impeachment conviction must include removal from office?

4. How could it have taken 230 years for someone to finally figure out someone could be impeached when no longer in office????
